Between February and September 2014, Gorazd Žmavc successfully headed the Office for Slovenes Abroad. As a member of the government under Prime Minister Cerar, he and his co-workers will continue to strengthen cooperation with Slovenian organisations outside the Republic of Slovenia and organisations in Slovenia working on relations with Slovenes abroad.

Gorazd Žmavc has many years of experience in responsible and leadership positions in the business sector, and also political experiences at the local level as the former Mayor of the Municipality of Ptuj. He spent most of his career in larger companies, such as Mercator, Zlatarne Celje, Gorenje, Perutnina Ptuj, where he held senior management positions in HR, legal and domestic and international marketing departments.
