Priorities of the Ministry

  • Updating the declaration of foreign policy and adoption of a new strategy of foreign policy up to 2020, which will define crucial operational national interests and priorities according to different policy areas and regions and ensure, ensuring sustainable development of Slovenia, its society and national living in the country and abroad.
  • Upgrading the existing system of economic diplomacy by updating all activities on assistance provided to exporting companies and with regard to foreign investment in Slovenia in order to establish a VEM one-stop shop for Slovenian and foreign companies. Promoting diversification and re-direction to growing markets with an effective and proactive economic policy.
  • Promoting active discussion on strengthening the EU: supporting greater integration and the role of the EU in international relations, and strengthening the EU’s voice in third countries; supporting enlargement process, particularly to the Western Balkans.
  • Promoting cooperation with Slovenes living abroad and establishing conditions for their development at home and abroad.
  • Resolving the dispute with Croatia on transferred foreign deposits of Ljubljanska banka, while expecting the verdict of the court of arbitration on the border with Croatia.
