Minister of the Interior

Boštjan Poklukar

born 27 January 1971

holds a master's degree in public administration


He is a veteran of the war for Slovenia. In 1991, he became employed at the Ministry of Defence. He performed various roles and duties in the Slovenian army and participated in numerous specialised military training courses. In his military career he reached the rank of master sergeant and was decorated with the bronze General Maister medal, the silver medal of the Slovenian Army and the "Stražnice 1991" commemorative badge. Since 2015 he has worked at the Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief, in various civil protection, disaster relief and aid support roles, providing public relations advice and helping organise events. In 2015 he played an active part in tackling the refugee crisis. In 2017 he became the head of the Notification Centre in Kranj. 


He gives regular talks on protocol and occasional talks on management and leadership support, the cooperation of national security subsystems in dealing with various crisis situations, public relations and the defence system. He is the author of the protocol manual Delam protokol. 


He lives with his family in Bled.
