Franc Križanič was born on 4 December 1954 in Ljubljana. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana in 1978, when Prof Aleksander Bajt invited him to become a researcher at the Economic Institute of the Law School, where he continued studying the macro-economic relationship between the production function and foreign trade (a topic he already addressed in his undergraduate thesis) and other macro-economic topics relevant to economic policy. He has published two books on the subject ('Investicijski multiplikator na Slovenskem' [The investment multiplier in Slovenia]; 1992, and 'Gospodarstvo Slovenije - ekonometrična študija obdobij 1986 – 1992 – 1994' [The Slovenian Economy – An Econometric Study of the Periods 1986–1992–1994]; 1995) and a series of articles. He earned his MSc ('Analiza faktorjev strukture jugoslovanske zunanje trgovine' [Analysis of the Structural Factors of Yugoslav Foreign Trade]; 1987) and his PhD ('Analiza Leontijevega paradoksa v slovenskem gospodarstvu' [Analysis of Leontief's Paradox in the Slovenian Economy]; 1997) under Professor Mate Babič at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb. The Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana officially recognised his qualifications in 1998. In 2000 he became Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana.
He is the author of a series of macro-economic analyses and related scientific articles. He has particularly focused on the analysis of the external/foreign trade balance and economic growth, including with regard to the expected effects of Slovenia's accession to the EU. He has also been published in international magazines and participated in international research projects.
In 2001 he became the Director of the Economic Institute of the Law School. From 2000 to 2005 he was President of the Council of Experts at the Insurance Supervision Agency. From 2007 until his official candidature for the position of Minister of Finance he was President of the Supervisory Board of the Slovenian Red Cross.

Helena Kamnar was born on 15 October 1954 in Ljubljana. In 1978 she graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana in analysis and planning of national economies and received her MA from the Faculty of Social Sciences with the thesis "Conflict between the Authority of the Founder and the Autonomy of a Public Institute".
She began her career in finance and accounting at the Založba Partizanska knjiga publishing house and then taught economics subjects at the Secondary School of Economics. In 1985 she began work at the University Institute of Health and Social Care (today’s Institute of Public Health), where she was head of the Sector for Econometric Analyses in Health Care. She worked in the health area care until 1991, when she was employed by the Ministry of Finance as an assistant to the Minister, State Undersecretary and head of the Budget Division. In 1996, 1997 and 2000 she worked at the Court of Audit of the Republic of Slovenia as a Senior Advisor in the area of auditing methods with an emphasis on the audit with regard to prudent business operations. From 1997 to 2000 she was a State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs. Between 2000 and 2005 she worked at the Ministry of Finance as a State Secretary and the Acting Director for the Budget. She worked at the University of Ljubljana from 2005 up until her recent appointment as State Secretary.
She has authored many articles on public finance and the operations of public institutes and also written the book entitled "Public Institutes between the State and the Market".
She has been a member of the supervisory boards of the University of Ljubljana, the University of Maribor, the Ljubljana Medical Centre, the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia, KAD, the Motorway Company in the Republic of Slovenia (DARS), NKBM, SID – the Slovene Export and Development Bank, and the Institute for Innovation and Development of the University of Ljubljana (IRI UL). She is currently President of the Council of the IRI UL and is no longer a member of any company supervisory board or public institute management board.

The Tax Administration of the RS performs tax service tasks: collection of taxes and other obligatory duties; performing supervision over legality, correctness and timeliness of fulfilment of tax obligations, defined by taxation regulations; prevention and discovery of tax offences and other cases of criminal conduct, defined by regulations, for supervision over the implementation of which the Tax Administration is responsible, and conduct of the procedure for offences of the offence body; forcible collection of pecuniary claims of the state and self-governing local communities on the basis of the act, which arranges the general administrative procedure, and on the basis of the act, which arranges offences; implementation of European Community regulations and international treaties, which oblige Slovenia in connection with Tax Administration's work field, co-operation and exchange of data with Community's bodies, competent bodies of EU Member States and with competent bodies of other states; co-operation with international organisations and professional associations from the field of taxes; examination and analysis of tax system's operations and tax policy's measures and submitting of initiatives for solving of matters from this field; performing of other tasks, defined by the act or by regulations on the basis of the act.
The Tax Administration of the RS performs tasks of the tax service in accordance with acts, which arrange taxation and the procedure in connection with the taxation, the act, which arranges audit supervision, with other regulations and international treaties, which oblige Slovenia, and in accordance with the Tax Administration Act.

The Office for Money Laundering Prevention performs tasks related to the detection and prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism. The Office has the role of clearing-house between institutions of the financial system and other liable persons, on the one hand, and law enforcement bodies on the other. The Office receives, collects, analyses and provides data obtained on the basis of the Act on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing to the competent authorities in Slovenia and abroad. The Office also performs certain tasks in the area of supervising the implementation of the Act on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.
