The Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia for Agriculture, Forestry, Food and the Environment supervises the implementation of the relevant regulations in the following areas: agriculture; rural development; agricultural policy measures; the quality and safety of agricultural produces, foodstuffs and fodder; zootechnics; genetically modified organisms; plant protection: mineral fertilisers; seed material of agricultural plants; wine and other wine- and grape-based products; forestry, hunting and fisheries; production, processing and trade related to food and/or foodstuffs, and good agricultural practice; protection of the environment and nature and ecological supervision at the state border; water regimes, and water regulation and management. The inspectorate may also perform supervision of the implementation of measures falling within the competences of the Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Agricultural Markets and Rural Development.

The Slovenian Environment Agency performs administrative and expert tasks in the following areas: comprehensive protection of the environment and natural resources; water, air and soil protection; environmental impact assessments; public services engaged in the protection of the environment and natural resources; noise protection and protection from other environmental risks; nature conservation; water management and the management of related equipment and facilities; monitoring and other methods of recording meteorological, hydrological, agrological and ecological conditions; meteorological, hydrological and ecological analyses and the relevant expert studies; forecasting meteorological and hydrological processes and providing timely alerts of extreme environmental phenomena; aviation meteorology; monitoring and other methods of recording geological, seismological and other geophysical phenomena, and their distribution and categorisation; seismic protection of buildings and facilities; protection from and timely alerts of seismic phenomena; waste management other than radioactive waste; mitigating the consequences of natural and other disasters; meeting international obligations in these areas, and participating in international exchanges of information.

The Nuclear Safety Administration of the Republic of Slovenia performs expert, development-related and administrative tasks and supervision in the areas of nuclear and radiation safety, the implementation of radiation activities and the use of radiation sources, other than in the healthcare and veterinary sectors, protection of the environment against ionising radiation, physical protection of nuclear substances and facilities, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and the protection of nuclear goods, monitoring environmental radiation, and the liability for nuclear damage.
