After receiving a bachelor's degree in engineering, Stanko Stepišnik continued his studies at the Faculty of Economics, receiving a master's degree in business. He began his career in 1979 at the company EMO, d.o.o., where he remained until 2012, with the exception of three years when he worked at ITC Celje. From 1984 to 2012, he worked successfully as a director of EMO – Orodjarna, d.o.o.
He has 34 years of experience in the private sector, and 22 years of experience in training youth in technical professions. He has actively participated in development and research areas, as well as in establishing business clusters, centres of excellence, technology parks, and business and university incubators. In the early elections of 2011, he was elected deputy to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.
