Mitja Mavko

Mitja Mavko graduated from the Faculty of Economics Ljubljana in 2001 and obtained his Master's degree in 2006.

From 2001 to 2008 he was employed in the Cabinet of the Minister of Finance, where he coordinated the international obligations of the Minister of Finance with a focus on EU issues. He was also responsible for the macro-economic issues in the ERM 2 entry and acceptance of the European currency Euro. In addition, he monitored EU's Economic Policy with an emphasis on the preparation of the annual Programme of Stability / Convergence Programme of Slovenia.

From 2008 to 2009 he worked in the Department for International Financial Relations of the Ministry of Finance, where he coordinated EU matters within the jurisdiction of the Ministry and Economic policy of the EU, with an emphasis on the preparation of the annual stability program of Slovenia.

In July 2009, he became Head of the Department for International Financial Relations at the Ministry of Finance. The main duties and liabilities include relations with international financial institutions, coordination of EU affairs in the jurisdiction MF, co-ordination of international development cooperation under the jurisdiction of MF and bilateral and multilateral international relations within the competence of MF, including issues of succession.

Mitja Mavko is also a Deputy Governor of Slovenia in the World Bank Group, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Inter-American Development Bank, the CEO of the Centre for Development Finance and Vice President of the Supervisory Board of the Fund Office for succession. He is fluent in English and German, basic in Spanish and French.
