167th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

At today's regular session the Government adopted the draft Act amending the Healthcare Databases Act. The purpose of the proposed Act, in the light of advances in information technology and increasing needs for healthcare provision in the cancer, rare non-malignant diseases and endoprosthetics fields, is to create new databases and update some existing databases. In the cancer field, the creation of three new databases is proposed: a registry of tested individuals from families with a high risk of hereditary cancer, a registry of organised early detection and treatment of breast cancer, and a registry of organised detection and treatment of precancerous changes and cancer of the large intestine. The draft Act also proposes the updating of the existing cancer registry and the registry of organised detection and treatment of precancerous changes and cancer of the cervix. Outside the cancer field, the creation of two new registries is proposed: an endoprosthetics registry and a non-malignant rare diseases registry.

The Government also adopted the draft Act amending the Employment, Self-Employment and Work of Foreign Nationals Act (ZZSDT). The proposed amendment will instruct the Employment Service of Slovenia not to verify certain conditions referred to in the second paragraph of Article 17 ZZSDT when issuing or extending the single permit for the purpose of employing a foreign national in an enterprise entered in the register of companies with high added value or the registry of innovative start-up enterprises. The Government expects this amendment to shorten the process of employing foreign nationals in such cases and to simplify it from the point of view of proving the fulfilment of various conditions.
