30th session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

At today’s ordinary session the government adopted its action plan for the World Bee Day project for the period to 2022. The plan will be updated regularly to include content agreed later. World Bee Day also offers an opportunity to transfer Slovenia’s wealth of knowledge and technology in the area of beekeeping, and to establish Slovenia globally as a green, healthy, proactive and innovative country.

To keep attention focused on this subject, and to strengthen awareness, knowledge and interest on the part of the public and the international community when it comes to the importance of bees and other pollinators, Slovenia is continuing to take a coordinated, proactive approach to realising the objectives of the World Bee Day project. This was the motivation for the creation of a government action plan covering the period to 2022 in various areas.

The action plan covers three priority areas:

  • raising awareness of the importance of bees and wild pollinators for sustainable farming, ensuring food security and preventing global hunger, conserving the environment, biodiversity, public health and the economy, and thus contributing to sustainable development at home and abroad;
  • putting in place measures to reduce the threat to honeybees and wild pollinators;
  • enhancing the global promotion of World Bee Day, Slovenian beekeeping, and Slovenia itself.

The government also approved the bill for a new Act on the Provision of Payment Services to Budget Users, the aim of which is to encourage the further development of electronic transactions in public administration and commerce. It brings significant benefits to the state, to users and to businesses in terms of cost, environmental impact, and administrative burden.

At today’s session the government concluded a concession agreement with 2TDK, Družba za razvoj projekta, d.o.o. for the construction and operation of a second track on the Divača-Koper railway.
