In its session today the Slovenian Government was briefed on the Final Award made by the Arbitral Tribunal, which issued its ruling on the border between the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia on 29 June 2017. The Government takes the view that the Arbitral Tribunal has performed its task under the Arbitration Agreement between Slovenia and Croatia.

The Government underlines that, just as it has done to date, Slovenia will consistently adhere to international law and EU law and will abide by the ruling of the Tribunal, and also expects Croatia to do the same. The Slovenian Government calls on the Republic of Croatia to engage in dialogue over implementation of the arbitration ruling.

The Government will devote particular attention to implementation of the arbitration ruling, and especially to the people living along the border who are directly impacted by the ruling.

The Government has briefed the National Assembly Committee on Foreign Affairs on these decisions.
