At today’s regular session, the Government approved guidelines for the revised budget for 2012 as well as draft Act Amending the Loan to the Hellenic Republic Act. The Government also discussed some strategic issues regarding the financial sector.

At 212th session of the Economic and Social Council, Prime Minister Janez Janša presented the starting points for the Social Agreement 2012 -2017 and the timeline schedule for drafting it. The Prime Minister stressed that the guidelines for the social agreement are based on values such as freedom, justice, work, responsibility for one’s actions and influence on others, nature and future generations, and solidarity.

At today's session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia discussed the handover reports and focused on establishing the financial situation in various departments. The report findings will be presented to the social partners and opposition parties on Monday, 27 February 2012, at an extended meeting of the Economic and Social Council.

Immediately after being elected in the National Assembly, the new cabinet met for the first time. The meeting focused on the current financial situation and the planned financial measures to be introduced by the new Government, which were presented by the Minister of Finance Dr Janez Šušteršič.

Ljubljana – The deputies of the National Assembly voted out the new Slovenian government under the PM Janez Janša with 50 votes in favour and 10 votes against. In this way, Slovenia acquired a fully operational government again, whose first priority is to lead the country out of the economical crisis.

At the celebration marking Slovenian cultural day entitled "Culture? Yes, please!", held in Ljubljana’s Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Centre, Preseren Awards, the highest recognition for lifetime artistic achievements in Slovenia, were conferred to author and poet Jože Snoj and designer Matjaž Vipotnik. The Preseren Fund Awards for individual achievements were conferred to architect Maruša Zorec and her associates Maša Živec and Žiga Ravnikar, trumpeter Franc Kosem, conductor Stojan Kuret, director Ivica Buljan, actor and musician Iztok Mlakar and to author Andrej E. Skubic.

The Government discussed the adoption of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union and the discussion at the informal summit of the European Council on 30 January 2012. The new international Treaty aims to strengthen economic and monetary union by strengthening fiscal discipline.
