Top destination

This week at two different locations on the globe there was an intensive promotion of Slovenian tourism and Slovenia as a global green boutique destination for discriminating guests who are seeking a diverse and active experience.

At the Slovenian House in PyeongChang, special attention was focused on a presentation of Slovenia as an attractive European tourist destination, since the South Korean market has great potential and the possibility of further growth for Slovenia tourism. We have recorded a continuous positive trend in arrivals and overnights by South Korean tourists, and the Olympic Games provide an opportunity and possibility to establish new and reinforce already established business cooperation between Slovenia and South Korea, including in tourism.

At the same time, in Australia and New Zealand, where there was intensive promotion of Slovenian tourism this week, Slovenia has succeeded in positioning itself as an attractive, sustainably oriented tourist destination. The main objective is to increase the number of visits by Australian tourists, since on average they spend more and stay longer, and this path is part of the promotion plan in the context of the international challenges confirmed by the Government.

The fact that tourism is an especially bright point in Slovenia’s economy is also demonstrated by the ranking of Bohinj among the ten best destinations in Europe for 2018. It is a convincing sustainable tourism destination given the “tranquillity of its natural environment and the ever-changing landscape”. Alongside Bohinj, praise was also garnered by Slovenia as a whole, since it “encourages you to recharge your batteries, disconnecting from routine”, to quote European Best Destinations.
