05.03.2010 - The focus of the informal meeting at Ptuj was harmonisation of positions regarding the upcoming Conference on the Western Balkans that will be held at Brdo pri Kranju on 20 March 2010 and is organised by Slovenia and Croatia. Special attention was given to enhancing economic cooperation among the countries and to exchanging views on overcoming the global economic crisis.

The Government also approved two reports on the implementation of anti-crisis measures to deal with employment, and a draft act on the allocation of funds to modernise the railway infrastructure. Pandemic Influenza
Slovenia confirmed its first case of A(H1N1) influenza infection on 19 June 2009. The authorities of the Republic of Slovenia have been closely monitoring the development of the pandemic both in Slovenia and around the world. The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has adopted several measures necessary to protect the health of the population. More>>

Measures Taken in Response to Global Financial and Economic Turmoil in Slovenia
Global financial and economic crisis has been influencing Slovenian economy markedly from late 2008 on. In the 4th quarter of 2008, GDP decreased by 0.8 percent compared to the 4th quarter of 2007. This is the first decrease of GDP after the 2nd quarter of 1993. more>>

Fight against trafficking in persons
The "Action Plan of Interministerial Working Group on Trafficking in Human Beings" is based on the preventive and protective operation of all bodies and organisations represented in the Interdepartmental Working Group and on the training and international cooperation of professional staff, officials and volunteers working in the area of trafficking in persons.

Slovenia and OECD
In May 2007, the Ministerial Council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development invited Slovenia to open discussions for membership of the OECD. The OECD groups 30 most developed economies of the world that set global standards and principles of economic and development policies. More>>
