Prime Minister meets with US energy secretary Rick Perry


Slovenian Prime Minister Marjan Šarec met today with US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, who is in Slovenia to attend the Three Seas Initiative summit.

The prime minister initially noted that Slovenia and the United States are strategic partners and NATO allies, and committed to further expansion of political and economic cooperation and cooperation in the area of security. He particularly emphasised the excellent and long-lasting cooperation between the two countries in the area of civil nuclear power, as the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, which has been in operation since the beginning of the eighties, is equipped with American Westinghouse technology. Nuclear power remains an important and reliable source of energy in Slovenia.  


The leaders agreed about the importance of further strengthening of cooperation between the European Union and the United States in all areas, including in the field of energy, with the goal of diversification of resources and the development of paths to provide safe, sustainable and competitive energy. They also spoke about other current challenges and threats that require closer transatlantic cooperation, with an emphasis on the importance of cybersecurity.
