    PM Borut Pahor met Croatian PM Jadranka Kosor and Serbian President Boris Tadic

    05.03.2010 - The focus of the informal meeting at Ptuj was harmonisation of positions regarding the upcoming Conference on the Western Balkans that will be held at Brdo pri Kranju on 20 March 2010 and is organised by Slovenia and Croatia. Special attention was given to enhancing economic cooperation among the countries and to exchanging views on overcoming the global economic crisis.

    04.03.2010 - At today's regular session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia approved the first draft act among a draft of legislation on health insurance, thus launching the long-awaited reform of the Slovenian healthcare system. The Government also approved two reports on the implementation of anti-crisis measures to deal with employment, and a draft act on the allocation of funds to modernise the railway infrastructure.     02.03.2010 - Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today paid an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the main purpose of the visit being the enhancement of economic relations between the two countries. Alongside Ministers Samuel Žbogar, Dr Matej Lahovnik, Dr Patrick Vlačič and Dr Boštjan Žekš, Mr Pahor was accompanied by a 100-member economic delegation. More>>

  • Timeline of the Exit Strategy approved

    25.02.2010 - At today's session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia approved a framework programme on international development cooperation (ICD) and humanitarian aid, and issued a decision to abolish visa requirements for certain groups of refugees and stateless persons. The Government also discussed an initiative to collaborate with Italy in the area of nuclear safety. More>>

    Italy assures funds for Slovenian Minority

    24.02.2010 - Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has issued a special decree restoring the missing contributions for institutions and activities of the Slovenian minority in Italy in accordance with Article 16 of the Global Protection Act for the Slovenian Minority in Italy. Slovenian minority will thus keep the funds which it is entitled to in accordance with aforementioned Protection Act. The decision is in line with an agreement that the two prime ministers reached at the sidelines of the informal EU summit in Brussels two weeks ago.

    PM Congratulated Maze on Silver

    20.02.2010 - Prime Minister Borut Pahor congratulated Maze on an excellent performance and the gaining of silver medal in the Olympic women's Super-G. Pahor said that Maze had shown with her perseverance and skill that she is a "world-class athlete". He added that he would keep his fingers crossed for Maze in the upcoming events.

    Congratulations to Petra Majdic for Winning Olympic Bronze Medal

    18.02.2010 - Prime Minister Borut Pahor, Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Zbogar, Minister of Defence Ljubica Jelusic and Minister of Education and Sport Igor Luksic congratulated cross-country skier Petra Majdic for an exceptional achievement - winning Olympic Bronze Medal in the classic sprint at Vancouver Winter Olympic Games in extreme cicrumstances.

    18.02.2010 - At the 69th regular session, the Government approved a position on Slovenia’s collaboration in drawing up an EU Danube Strategy. The Government also discussed the latest information regarding the issue of LNG terminals in the Gulf of Trieste and its coastline. More>>

    15.02.2010 - PM Borut Pahor had a meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton at Brdo pri Kranju to discuss the forthcoming conference on Western Balkans, which should take place in Slovenia in spring. PM stated that the conference, which will be organised by Slovenia, Croatia, EU Council and EC, would bring all the Balkan leaders together for the first time after 18 years. He believes that the conference will be a turning point in more than one aspect. EU High Representative said she fully supported the event. More>>
